What is 4 Axis CNC Machining
Generally, 4 Axis CNC Machining refers to that ,when the workpiece is not positioned in space, there are six degrees of freedom, three linear displacement degrees of freedom x \ y \ Z and three rotational displacement degrees of freedom a \ B \ C. The six degrees of freedom usually use the X \ y \ Z of Cartesian rectangular coordinate system to express three linear axes, and use its corresponding a \ B \ C to express three rotation axes.
For example, when designing a multi axis NC machine tool, that is, a machining center, the number of axes needs to be set according to the machining object planning. Three axis CNC machining centers are common in the market, which have three linear displacement axes x\y\z. The so-called four axis machining center generally adds a rotating axis, which is usually called the fourth axis. The corresponding machining center is the four axis machining center.
Principle and application of controller
1.1 4 axis control
MCX314As controls the motor movement through pulse sequence drive. The four axes in the four axis motion controller have the same function, allowing up to three axes to be linked. At the same time, it has the same operation method for constant speed drive, interpolation or S-curve drive, and the performance of four axes such as S-curve acceleration / deceleration drive is the same.
1.2 speed control
For constant speed drive, interpolation or S-curve acceleration / deceleration drive, the frequency range of output pulse is 1p / s-4mp / s, while the accuracy of output pulse frequency (clock frequency is 16mhz) is less than ± 0.1% and the speed magnification is 1-500. The output speed of drive pulse can change freely when not running.
1.3 acceleration / deceleration drive
MCX314As can control constant speed drive, interpolated acceleration / deceleration drive and S-curve acceleration / deceleration drive of each shaft. Each axis can also be independently positioned as S-curve or trapezoidal acceleration / deceleration. The acceleration / deceleration command of S-curve can make the output pulse accelerate / decelerate according to the parabola law.
1.4 interpolation function
Linear interpolation: any two or three axes of the four axes can realize linear interpolation movement. The coordinates of the motion position boundary are between – 2147483 646 – + 2147483 646. At the same time, the position error of linear interpolation is ±. 05lsb (minimum interpolation unit).
Arc interpolation: any two axes can realize arc interpolation, and the range of interpolation coordinates is the same as that of straight-line interpolation. The position error of arc interpolation is ± 1.0lsb (minimum interpolation unit).
Bit mode interpolation: the data of this interpolation is calculated by the upper computer CPU, and the upper computer writes the interpolation results into the MCX314As. Then, the MCX314As continuously outputs interpolation pulses at the preset driving speed. According to the processing capacity of the upper computer CPU, the MCX314As can interpolate curves of various shapes.
Continuous interpolation: MCX314As allows different interpolation methods to be used continuously, such as linear interpolation → arc interpolation → linear interpolation →… The maximum interpolation speed allowed during uninterrupted continuous interpolation is 2MP / s.
1.5 position control
Each axis has a 32-bit logical position calculator and a 32-bit actual position calculator. The logical position calculator records the input position pulse, and the actual position calculator records the feedback pulse input from the external encoder or linear scale.
1.6 comparison register and software limit
Each axis has two 32-bit comparison registers, one is the logical position counter and the other is the actual position machine counter. The comparison results can be read out from the status register or reported through interrupt. These registers can also be used to realize software limit.
1.7 automatic search in situ function
MCX314As can complete the work of automatic search to in-situ without CPU interference. This process includes high-speed in-situ search → low-speed in-situ search → encoder z-phase search → compensation drive. This feature reduces the burden on the CPU.
1.8 synchronous operation
Synchronous operation can realize some special functions. For example, the excitation signal generated in each axis or two axes or external devices connected to the circuit can start or stop the operation synchronously. 10 types of excitation signals can be used, including special position, start / stop during axis movement and pulse rising / falling edge of input signal. The responses of the four operations include the start / stop of the shaft movement, the calculated value of the saved position and the speed of writing the shaft operation.
1.9 input signal filtering
MCX314As has the function of filtering each input signal, and can set whether the input signal is filtered or directly enters the circuit. The filtering time constant can be selected.
